2014 Epic Challenge Wrap Up

What an epic weekend of baseball! This weekend brought the 2014 Epic Challenge at Sports at the Beach. We hosted 33 teams over six age groups for our two day tournament. The kids fought hard and played great ball all weekend. Sunday saw six championship games and six champions.

In the 10U bracket, three teams stepped up to the plate. It was a round-robin style play and in the end, the Bucks County Legends faced off against the Lacey Lightning. Once it was all said and done, the Legends came out on top. Congratulations to the Legends as they are the 2014 Epic Challenge 10U tournament champions. Also a round of applause for the Lightning as they are the tournament runners-up. The Legends, Lightning, and the Finger Lakes Falcons all played hard and deserve kudos.

In the 11U division, seven teams came to battle. The final game saw two undefeated teams go head-to-head with the Akadema Warriors Black and the Curve Junior. When the dust had settled, the Warriors were victorious. A round of applause for the Warriors as they are the 2014 Epic Challenge 11U tournament champions. And congratulations to the Curve as they are the tournament runners-up. Each of the seven teams worked hard this weekend.

In the 12U bracket, six teams went for the top spot. It was a battle between two undefeated with the Delaware Blue Hens facing off against the Kent Island Bucs. After it was all over, the Blue Hens were the winners. Congratulations to the Blue Hens as they are the 2014 Epic Challenge 12U tournament champions. Also, a round of applause for the Bucs as they are the tournament runners-up. All six teams played phenomenal ball all weekend.

In the 13U division, five teams clashed for the trophy. Sunday’s championship game pitted the Lacey Lightning against the Delaware Hurricanes. It was a nailbiter of a game and ended 8-7 in favor of the Lightning. Congratulations to the Lightning as they are the 2014 Epic Challenge 13U tournament champions. Also, kudos to the Hurricanes as they fought hard and are the tournament runners-up. All five teams showcased great skill this weekend and deserve a round of applause.

In the 14U bracket, seven teams battled it out. The final game had the undefeated Delaware Vipers facing off against the undefeated Piedmont Hornets. It was a real barn burners and those kids played hard. With a final score of 14-12, the Vipers came out on top. Kudos to the Vipers as they are the 2014 Epic Challenge 14U tournament champions. And congratulations to the Hornets as they are the tournament runners-up. All seven teams did a great job this weekend.

In the 15/16U division, seven teams fought to be number one. The championship game pitted the LIP-NY Nationals against the Hamilton Bulls. The game was a testament to the skills of both teams and with a 7-6 final score, the Nationals came out as the winners. Congratulations to the Nationals as they are the 2014 Epic Challenge 15/16U tournament champions. And a round of applause for the Bulls as they are the tournament runners-up. All seven teams deserve kudos as they worked hard and played even harder this weekend.

The 2014 Epic Challenge is in the books! Thank you all for coming out to support youth baseball. It was a great weekend with a lot of stellar plays.
