2014 Dog Days of Summer Wrap Up

The dog days of summer. Those sultry summer days where you just want to sit in the air conditioning because the heat is out of this world. This weekend Sports at the Beach had the Dog Days of Summer with scorching temperatures in the mid…80’s.

Wait, what? That’s right, our Dog Days of Summer tournament this weekend was accompanied by unusually cool August temps. But that just means better baseball!

This weekend, 48 teams over 4 age brackets traveled to Sports at the Beach to play ball. After two days of pool play, Sunday brought on our championship games and our champions.

In the 12U division, nine teams stepped up to the plate. The championship game was set between the Delco Express and the Port City Outlaws. Once the dust had settled, the Express came out on top. Congratulations to the Express as they are 201 Dog Days of Summer 12U tournament champions. Also a round of applause for the Outlaws as they played hard & are the tournament runners-up. All nine teams played phenomenal ball this weekend.

In the 13U bracket, sixteen teams came ready to battle. Sunday’s final game had the Elk County Tool & Die Crushers facing off against the Schuylkill County Blue Sox. The two teams clashed and battled in a showcase of skill and in the end the Crushers were victorious. Congratulations to the Crushers as they are the 2014 Dog Days of Summer 13U tournament champions. And a round of applause for the Blue Sox for their great skill and they are the tournament runners-up. Each of the sixteen teams worked hard this weekend.

In the 14U division, twelve teams showed up ready to play. The championship game pitted the Lake Shore Gray Sox against the Diamond State Longhorns. After it was all said & done, the Gray Sox were the victors. A round of applause for the Gray Sox as they are the 2014 Dog Days of Summer 14U tournament champions. Also, congratulations to the Longhorns as they fought hard and are the tournament runners-up. All of the twelve teams deserve a round of applause for their hard work this weekend.

In the 15/16U bracket, eleven teams fought for the trophy. The final game saw the Long Island Cyclones go head-to-head with the B2B Bombers Black. Both teams battles and in the end, the Cyclones came out on top. Congratulations to the Cyclones as they are the 2014 Dog Days of Summer 15/16U tournament champions. Also, a round of applause for the Bombers as they played great ball and are the tournament runners-up. Each of the eleven teams worked hard and played harder this weekend. 

 

So the Dog Days of Summer 2014 tournament is officially in the books. Thank you to everyone who came out & congratulations to all of our champions.
