What a beautiful weekend for baseball! And what a beautiful weekend to celebrate all the loving mothers who support all the baseball here at Sports at the Beach! Thank you to everyone who came out this weekend to celebrate mothers and baseball!
The 2014 Diamond Challenge kicked off on Saturday with 57 teams in six age brackets ready to play ball. The teams battled it out with upsets, ties, nail biters, and everything in between.
In the 8U division, seven teams came to fight for the top spot. In the end, it came down to two south Jersey teams going head-to-head. The SJ Elite & the SJ Titans battled it out and after a close game, the Titans were victorious with a score of 1-0. Congratulations to the Titans as they are the 2014 Diamond Challenge 8U tournament champions. And a big round of applause to the Elite as the tournament runners-up. All seven teams played great ball and deserve congratulations.
In the 10U bracket, eight teams showed up ready to play. This time the final game was set between the Delaware Vipers and the GoWags Marauders. This game was a nailbiter, folks. After the dust had settled, the Vipers had come back in the bottom of the sixth inning to win 12-11. Big congratulations to the Vipers as they are 2014 Diamond Challenge 10U tournament champions. Of course, the Marauders also deserve kudos as they fought hard and are the tournament runners-up. Each of the eight teams played hard so let’s hear it for all of them.
In the 11U division, nine teams were there to battle. The championship game saw two undefeated teams going head-to-head, the SJ Young Guns and the Akadema Warriors Black. In the sixth inning, the score was 3-2 but these teams weren’t done yet. This game went for eight innings and in the end, the Young Guns came out on top 6-5. A round of applause for the Young Guns as they are the 2014 Diamond Challenge 11U tournament champions. And big congratulations to the Akadema Warriors for playing a great game! Nine teams played their hearts out and all nine teams deserve congratulations.

In the 12U bracket, sixteen teams stepped up to the plate. The final game saw Gator’s Baseball Club facing off against the Ashburn Rebels. Both teams battled it out and in the end, Gator’s were victorious. A round of applause as Gator’s Baseball Club are the 2014 Diamond Challenge 12U tournament champions. The Rebels played great ball and deserve a round of applause as they are the tournament runners-up. Each of the sixteen teams battled, played great ball and deserve kudos for their skills.
In the 13U division, eleven teams battled for the top. Battling for the gold were the Mid Atlantic Shockers and the Bagel Bombers. Once it was all said & done, the Shockers were victorious. Congratulations to the Mid Atlantic Shockers as they are the 2014 Diamond Challenge 13U tournament champions. The Bombers played hard and deserve kudos as they are the tournament runners-up. All eleven teams did and amazing job and deserve a round of applause.
In the 14U bracket, six teams came ready to fight. The final game had the Akadema Warriors battling head-to-head against Taconic Rangers Baseball Club for the trophy. After the dust had settled, the Warriors were the winners. Congratulations to the Warriors as they are the 2014 Diamond Challenge 14U tournament champions. And a giant round of applause for the Rangers as they are the tournament runners-up. All six teams deserve congratulations for their hard work this weekend.
The 2014 Diamond Challenge is over & complete! A great weekend of baseball was had by all. Congratulations to all the teams that came out and joined us for the weekend. A giant thank you and much adoration to all the moms out there that came to spend their day with us here at Sports at the Beach.
This weekend we have our 2014 Armed Forces Classic where we will honor all of our military personnel at Sports at the Beach. There is an admission discount for any military personnel this weekend. We hope you will join us to honor those who fight for our country.
