Akadema Sports at the Beach Select Camp
July 11 - 15 , 2010
This camp is for select (invitation only) high school baseball players. The five day camp will provide a showcase for future college and professional players. The camp will provide instruction, drills, and game situations to allow each athlete to showcase his skills. In addition to the four days of college coaches (over 25 colleges will be represented*); one of the days will be exclusively for professional scouts. Both on field and off field instruction will be highlighted in this camp.

**Both 2 year and 4 year colleges will represented; as of 4/15/2010, University of Miami, College of New Jersey, University of North Carolina, Delaware State University, University of Delaware, Gloucester Community College, North Carolina State, Duke, Rider University, University of Cincinatti. Camp Directors - Rod Delmonico and Jim Zerilla
Coach Delmonico brings an impressive resume to our facility. His career includes assistant coaching posts at Clemson and Florida State . In 1990, Delmonico was named the head coach for the University of Tennessee. In his 18 year tenure, he led the Vols to four SEC division titles, 2 SEC Conference championships, 8 NCAA Regional appearances, and 3 appearances in the College World Series. His 699 career wins make him the winningest coach in University of Tennessee history and the fourth most in SEC history. In all, Coach Delmonico had 73 Tennessee Volunteers players selected in the Major League draft, including 10 first round picks.
In 2009, he was the named the manager of the Netherlands national team. This team competed in the World Baseball Classic and had an impressive victory over the Dominican Republic team. Rod is a regular on the MLB International Summer Academy circuit.
We are delighted to have Coach Delmonico on our staff. He knows what must be done to achieve the next level in baseball.
Coach Zerilla brings a wealth of experience to Sports at the Beach. He was the head coach at University of Louisville for 8 years. He served as an assistant for 5 years working with the pitchers and overseeing all camps and clinics. During his tenure, thirteen players signed professional contracts.
His professional experience was as a scout and manager in the San Diego Padres organization as well as the coordinator of the Instructional League. While Coach Zerilla was a manager, Hall of Famer Tony Gwynn and White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen were among his players. He served for 3 years as a Chicago Cubs scout.
For 14 years, he was an instructional coordinator and director for the Doyle Baseball School.
